Mikel Arteta hands youngster Arthur Okonkwo surprise call up for training ahead of Olympiacos game

Arsenal set to face Olympiacos in the second leg of the Europa League Round of 16 game this evening.

The Gunners currently hold an away three goals following the first leg encounter in Greece. The game is expected to kick off at 6:55 PM GMT at the Emirates stadium.

At the moment, winning the Europa League seems like the best way for the Gunners to return to the UEFA Champions League after missing out since the past 6 years. 

Ahead of the game against their Greek opponents, Mikel Arteta has called up Arsenal’s U-23 reserve keeper Arthur Okonkwo. 

According to reports, the young goalkeeper was spotted at London Colney training ground. 


Arthur Okonkwo who os 19 years old is expected to leave Arsenal this summer to continue his football education. 

It's been gathered that the UK born-Nigerian has played just 8 games for the Arsenal youth system this season, conceding 12 goals and kept one clean sheet.

Although, it's uncertain whether he will make the match as Arsenal already have Bernd Leno as number one and Matt Ryan who is on loan from Brighton as the second goalie.
