Wilfred Ndidi has been able to craft a niche for himself in the middle of the park since he arrived at King Power Stadium from Genk.
It looked like a transfer that Leicester City needed following the departure of N'Golo Kante to Chelsea.
After Leicester City surprised many to clinch the Premier League title under Claudio Ranieri. The Foxes moved to secure the services of Ndidi in 2016.
Since Ndidi arrival at King Power Stadium, he has been compared to Kante in that position.
But Wilfred Ndidi has come out to state it clearly that he doesn't like being compared to the French international.
Speaking to BBC Sport Africa is he said: "Yes it [comparison] used to irritate me but it's football and I completely understand the fans because they love to find something to talk about. Even before and then when I arrived at Leicester I heard it. I only wanted to be Wilfred Ndidi and not someone else.
"I focus on myself, I am always critical of myself, I do my best to improve as a footballer game by game and give my best for my club."
Fans will have the opportunity to watch Wilfred Ndidi face N'Golo Kante next month at Wembley. It's been gathered that Chelsea will face Leicester City who qualified for the FA Cup final for the first time in their history.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder added that the comparison with Kante isn't relevant to him and he doesn't pay attention to such critics.
Ndidi added: "The comparison with others, about who is better or if Kante and I play alike, is irrelevant to me. I think all that comparison was for those who love to talk and I didn't focus on it.
"You're comfortable when you are yourself and not listening or trying to be something you are not."
