The Austrian international left Allianz Arena at the end of the 2020-21 season after the expiration of his contract.
Recall that the 28 years old full back turned down a contract extension early in the season after the club couldn't agree to the player's wage demand.
Real Madrid have taken the opportunity to sign Alaba for free ahead of other European clubs who were in the race for his services.
Alaba, 28, joined Bayern Munich in 2008, he went ahead to record 10 Bundesliga titles, two Champions Leagues and six German Cups during his 13 years spell with the German champions.
Real Madrid announced the signing of Alaba on Friday afternoon, May 28th. But the defender will join the club after his participation in the 2020 Euros competition.
Earlier today, Alaba took to his page to appreciate the Real Madrid fans. According to him, he left a special club (Bayern Munich) and has joined another special club (Real Madrid).
Alaba added that he's ready to give his best for the club.
Taking to his Instagram page @da_27, he captioned:

I leave a special club for another special club. I am really happy and honored to join Real Madrid. After so many years in Munich I will face a new challenge and I will give my best to continue the club's special history. I can't wait to play my first match in the iconic white jerseys in front of all you fans in Madrid. I'm sure that this journey will be a successful one. Together with all madridistas. VAMOS!"
