Borussia Dortmund captain Lukasz Piszczek was left in tears after his team's German Cup victory over Leipzig on Thursday night.

Borussia Dortmund thrashed RB Leipzig 4-1 to clinch the DFB Pokal and the Polish defender couldn't hold back his tears with the Polish defender playing his last game in professional football.
Mahmoud Dahoud and Mats Hummels were among the players to console the veteran defender, and they were quickly joined by the entire team as they embraced him together.

He has won a total of eight trophies during a successful 11 years at Borussia Dortmund.
Speaking after the game, Piszczek was nearly left speechless after the support he had received and said it the perfect way to call time on his career.
'I've no words,' he said. 'I know that my career is slowly coming to an end and I never dreamed of such a highlight.

'I always said I wanted to end my career here with a trophy. Today we did it and I'm very proud.... I couldn't have imagined this in my wildest dreams.'
Piszczek plans to return to his boyhood side LKS Goczalkowice, who play in Poland's third tier, to help coach their youth side.

'I have concrete plans in Poland and have already postponed these plans for a year,' he said last season.

'I grew up here, this is where I developed into the man I am today, which is why I wanted to give something back.'

Piszczek played 380 times for Dortmund, and recorded 66 caps for his national team and winning the Bundesliga twice during his time at the club.
