15 political parties were registered for the election according to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was snapped at the polling unit in his constituency carrying out his "civic right."
Babajide Sanwo-Olu shared the photos on his verified Instagram page @jidesanwoolu. The governor was spotted along with his wife at the voting centre.
"The Local Government elections are underway. My wife and I have performed our civic duties as citizens of Lagos.
The voting process is seamless, and peacefu," he wrote.
The governor further revealed that the Lagos state government have placed security personnel in every areas in order to prevent unrest.
" Security personnel have also been deployed to all the nooks and crannies of Lagos, "he added.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu urged Lagosians to come out and cast their votes, he concluded;" Please go out and cast your votes for your preferred candidates. Let us match actions with our words. "
