Liverpool have continued to extend contracts of their players ahead of the 2021-2022 season.

The Reds haven't been active in the transfer window. Ibrahima Konate, a defender, is the only player Jurgen Klopp has signed this summer. Konate joined Liverpool on a long term deal from RB Salzburg.

According to Goal, Jurgen Klopp will not sign any "big player" this summer because the club is aware of "financial difficulties" caused by the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have extended contracts of Alisson, Fabinho, and Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of the new season.

On Friday (August 13th 2021), Liverpool confirmed that defender Virgil van Dijk has extended his contract. The former Southampton and Celtics defender has pen new deal with the club until 2025.

Recall that the 30 years old joined Liverpool from Southampton for £75m in January 2018.

Virgil Van Dijk played an "integral part" in Liverpool's Premier League title triumph in 2019-2020. He was named the player of season as well as UEFA player of the year.

Liverpool missed van Dijk last season after he suffered serious knee injury in October's Merseyside derby against Everton.

Virgil Van Dijk has made 130 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 goals since his arrival at the club.
