Manchester United have announced the jersey number of their new signing. Recall that Red Devils completed the deal for Portuguese international on transfer deadline day. 

Cristiano Ronaldo, 36, is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Manchester United and Portugal national team. 

Ronaldo completed two years deal with Manchester United from Juventus last week. The 36-year-old decided to leave Juventus after spending two seasons with the Serie A side. 

On Thursday, Manchester United revealed Ronaldo's jersey number. According to the Premier League side, the Portuguese international will wear the iconic jersey number 7.

Recall that Ronaldo wore the shirt number during his first spell at Manchester United, where he played six seasons between 2003 and 2009. Ronaldo made 292 appearances and scored 118 goals, winning nine trophies including three Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League during his first spell. 
According to Sky Sports, Edinson Cavani, gave up the jersey number 7 for the Portuguese international. Cavani has decided to switch to jersey number 21, which he wears for the Uruguayan national team. 



Ronaldo has joined Manchester United legends such as; George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona and David Beckham who previously wore the iconic jersey number 7.

The former Real Madrid star is expected to make his debut in Manchester United’s fixture after the international break
The Red Devils will host Newcastle United on Saturday 11 September at Old Trafford stadium.
