Former Arsenal and Manchester City star Samir Nasri has announced his retirement from football at the age of 34.

Nasri began his football career playing for local youth clubs in his hometown Marseille. He finished his career with Marseille amassing over 160 appearances.

The French international came into spotlight in June 2008 after he joined Premier League club Arsenal on a four-year contract.

Meanwhile, the talent of Nasri attracted the interest of Manchester City. After spending three seasons with Arsenal, Nasri joined Manchester City on a four-year contract. In his first season with the club, he won his first major honour as a player as the club won the 2011–12 Premier League.

Nasri won two Premier League titles, in 2011-12 under Roberto Mancini and 2013-14 under Manuel Pellegrini, at the Etihad Stadium. He played 46 games in all competitions for Manchester City.

The France midfielder's last club was Belgian side Anderlecht, managed by former City team-mate Vincent Kompany, but he was released in 2020. He was released last last year by the Belgian club.
