Lionel Messi has suffered injury in his left knee

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the reason Lionel Messi was substituted over the weekend. 

Lionel Messi is a South American footballer who plays as a striker for French Club Paris Saint-Germain. 

Recall that the 34-year-old joined Parc des Princes side on a free transfer from Barcelona this summer. Lionel Messi left Barcelona after 21 years following the expiration of his contract with the Blaugrana. 

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi has made three appearances for PSG so far, he played his first home game for Mauricio Pochettino side last weekend against Olympique Lyon. 

The Argentine international was substituted in the 76th minutes of the game. But Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Messi suffered injury in his left knee. 

Mauricio Pochettino side beat Lyon 2-1 after Mauro Icardi scored the winner in stoppage time.

Paris Saint-Germain will hope for Messi fitness ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash against Manchester City next week.
