Atletico Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-0 and the former Liverpool forward was on target for the second goal.
Thomas Lemar had opened the scoring at the Wanda Metropolitano before Suarez fired home to double Atleti's lead just before half time.
After he scored in the 44 minutes, Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez pressed his hands together to ask forgiveness.
The goal was Suarez first against Barcelona since he left the club in 2020
He missed the first leg fixture due to Covid-19 last campaign and the second leg ended in a goalless draw.
"I already knew that if I scored I would apologise," he explained reason for his goal celebration gesture.
"Due to the respect, my affection, for being another Barcelona fan, for the career I had at Barcelona, for the [tough] period that my colleagues are going through, which is difficult, and the fans. Out of respect."
Recall that Luis Suarez joined Atlético Madrid last season after he was forced out of Barcelona. He was deemed surplus to their requirements under former Barcelona president Joseph Bartomeu.
