It's been gathered that Arsenal are hoping to qualify for Europe next season after missing out of top six last season.
Arsenal will face in form Manchester City who are the table toppers on January 1st 2022. This seems to be first test for the north London side who will face Pep Guardiola side without their manager.
Early today December 29th 2021, Arsenal have confirmed that Mikel Arteta has tested positive for coronavirus.
Mikel Arteta will miss the game due to Covid-19 and he has already been isolated from his family and rest of the squad.
The statement reads: "Mikel Arteta will miss our match against Manchester City on New Year’s Day after testing positive for COVID-19. Mikel is isolating in line with Government guidelines and we wish him well."
Meanwhile likes of Callum Chambers, Cedric Soares, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Tomiyasu and Maitland Niles are currently self isolating after the tested positive.
