Pep Guardiola side were rampant in the opening 45 minutes as efforts from Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling put them four goals ahead at the Etihad Stadium.
However, strikes from James Maddison, Ademola Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho brought the visitors within one goal of Pep Guardiola's men.
But Aymeric Laporte notched a crucial fifth to take the game away from Leicester before Sterling scored his second to secure three points three minutes from time.
Manchester City travel to face Brentford on Wednesday on the road while Leicester are next in action against Liverpool on Tuesday at the King Power Stadium.
