La Liga: Correa nets brace as Atletico Madrid beat Real Vallecano 2-0 (Highlights) 2021-2022

It's a comfortable win for Atletico Madrid then, against a Rayo side who were unrecognisable from the team that's had such an impressive start to the season.

 Correa receives man of the match for his well-taken two goals, but Carrasco and Suarez were also impressive with their tenacity and creativity.

The home side took the lead when Carrasco surges down the right, and does extremely well to keep the ball in play with an outrageous little flick on the byline. He pulls it back for Hermoso, whose effort is blocked, but the ball ricochets back to Correa who slams it in the net from a tight angle.

Correa doubled the lead when Lemar drives forwards, and feeds Lodi out on the overlap. He delivers a beautiful low cross, leaving Correa with a simple finish into an empty net.

Simeone's side now turn their attentions to the Copa del Rey, where they travel to Rayo Majadahonda in midweek, fresh from this long-awaited victory. Rayo Vallecano are also in midweek action, away at Mirandes.
