It was a great 90 minutes of football at St. Mary’s comes to a close with Southampton and Manchester City forced to share the spoils of a 1-1 draw.
The Saints opened up the scoring in style with a lovely outside-the-boot finish from Walker-Peters, which gave the hosts a lead that would stand for just under an hour.
City dominated proceedings and time of possession, sending wave after wave of attack forward and Forster’s clean sheet was ruined on 67 minutes thanks to a headed finish from Laporte thanks to De Bruyne’s inch-perfect delivery.
Guardiola’s side were not happy to take a point and continued to press for the winning goal but dogged determination from the organised Southampton defence prevented a late defeat.
The result takes Manchester City 12 points clear at the top while Southampton stay 12th.
