It's been gathered that Newcastle have signed right-back Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid for £12m.
If you recall that the former Burnley and Tottenham star left England in 2019 after four years in North London, where he guided Tottenham to reach UEFA Champions League final where they lost to Liverpool.
The England right-back has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the option of a further year.
It's been further reported that Newcastle have been granted clearance regarding Trippier's availability and he will be able to make his debut against Cambridge United in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.
The 31-year-old fullback was seen in training this afternoon preparing for tomorrow's game.
Trippier also slammed critics saying that he joined the Magpies because of money.
He said that he's family was one of the reason he agreed to return to England
In his words:
"People say it’s about money? They're entitled to their opinion. My family are most important. I wanted a project and a challenge. I’m brave, I don’t see this as a risk. I've got my reasons, I know them, and money isn't one of them. I’m excited.”
