
Liverpool clinched their trophy this season after they lifted the English FA Cup on Saturday evening.
The Reds needed a penalty shootout to edge Chelsea at the Wembley stadium. Both sides failed to find the back of the net despite having shots hit the cross bar.
Tsimikas scored the winning penalty for Liverpool after they Sadio Mane had missed what would have been the last kick of the game.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has taken partial responsibility for Sadio Mane's failure to score from the spot.
"Sadio’s penalty is for sure at least 50 per cent my responsibility because you have to let the boys do what they think they do, but with him I said, ‘He knows you exactly, the goalie, so do the other way around.'," he revealed.
"How very often in my life, I realised it’s better to shut up! But we still made it and honestly it means the world to us."
Recall that Liverpool defeated Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final last month.
Klopp also appreciated the team's performance against Thomas Tuchel side.
He added: "It’s massive. It was difficult. The first 25 minutes were the best 25 minutes we played ever against Chelsea, we played an incredible game, but we didn’t score."
Liverpool will have their goalkeeper to thank for his heroic saves. Allison Becker saved Chelsea's Mason Mount spot kick while Cesar Azpilicueta penalty struck the cross bar.
