After a very cagey start to the game, with strong challenges from both sides, it was Feyenoord who took control and who dominated possession.
Zaniolo doing well to control a Gianluca Mancini ball and nudge it past Justin Bijlow in the 32nd minute.
Mourinho's side took that lead in to the break, but Feyenoord looked to get straight back into it at the start of the second half and a dangerous low ball was turned onto his own post by Mancini, with the Italians eventually managing to clear and survive a VAR check for a potential handball penalty.
