Ex Man Utd and City star Carlos Tevez hangs football boot at age 39 following death of his father Carlos Tevez has announced his retirement from football at age 38. 

The former Manchester United star who also played for rival City Tevez citrd5the death of his father last year as reason behind his decision to hang his boots. 


He said:"I have retired, it is confirmed, they offered me many things, including from the United States. But that's it, I have given everything."

The ARGENTINE international played in the Premier League from 2006 until 2013, rescued West Ham from relegation in 2006-07 and swapping Manchester United for Manchester City in 2009.

Tevez scored 73 goals in 148 games for City, where he helped the club to the FA Cup in 2011 and their first Premier League title in 2012. 

Tevez, who also played for Juventus, Corinthians and Shanghai Shenhua, finishes his career with 308 goals from 746 club appearances. He won 76 caps for Argentina, scoring 13 goals.

He has been playing at home in Argentina with boyhood club Boca Juniors where he had decided to retire. 

Tevez concluded: "Playing the last year was very difficult but I was able to see my old man. I stopped playing because I lost my number one fan."
