

Nigeria defeated Sierra Leone 2-1 to begin their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign at the Moshood Abiola national stadium in Abuja.

Goals from Alex Iwobi and Victor Osimhen helped the Super Eagles secure three points after conceding the first goal in the 11th minutes.

The opening goal came after Jonathan Morsay beat Super Eagles goalkeeper Uzoho from close range after he was teed up by Musa Kamara.
But Alex Iwobi level the score for Nigeria after he was teed up by Moses Simon, the Everton man slotted the ball past goalkeeper Mohamed Kamara.
Just before half time, Victor Osimhen made it 2-1. The Napoli forward found the back of net thanks to a second assist from Simon.
