It's been reported that the Portuguese international wants to leave Old Trafford in search of Champions League football.
Recall that Manchester United finished seventh in the Premier League table last season.
This means that United are not eligible to compete in the UEFA Champions League forthcoming season.
Meanwhile Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has cleared the ongoing transfer gossips.
He said: "I don’t know who invented this story about Cristiano Ronaldo to Atletico Madrid. It’s definitely not true”.
"It’s practically impossible for him to come to Atletico de Madrid."
Ronaldo returned to the United Kingdom after his long summer vacation.
The 37-year-old footballer was seen arriving at Carrington training center this morning ahead of his crucial meeting with coach Erik Den Hag concerning his future.
