Popular celebrity stylist Toyin Lawani has taken to her social media platform to upload some amazing photos of herself.
The socialite and brand influencer was spotted wearing a traditional attire.
Toyin Lawani revealed that she's from royal family from Ekiti state. According to the Instagram sensation, her grandma as a Regent in IKole kingdom in Ekiti state.
"As a bonafide Yoruba woman, i Revel in the Yoruba culture, It is even more important as I was born into a Royal family with my grandma as a Regent in IKole kingdom in Ekiti state, so I was actively raised in culture. I’ve always proudly worn the Yoruba cultural batch like my grandmother, detaching my origin from my existence is like having no source. While being an effervescent Yoruba woman, I am also Muslim. I grew up in a family where my dad generously killed rams for prayers&shared money &food with people around. It was done routinely&it was ingrained into me as a child&I do the same religiously as an adult. I also attend church sometimes because my mom was also a Christian&my parents weren’t together,so I practiced both&while Islam &Christianity are different religions, I’ve grown to value religious tolerance which inculcates respect for other people’s religious beliefs even if you don’t understand them. Example like Ifa, which if you are born into the royal family, you will come across it? If they find it sacred and spiritual, say less about it, especially in a minimizing and belittling way. I’m saying all these because one of the housemates implied that I do jazz(juju) & well I decided to show up in my juju regalia lol. Fashion is part of culture&culture existed before religion yes, some cultural practices are diabolic&should be abolished, however, if they aren’t harming anyone, respect their culture, rather than stigmatizing them with it? It’s part of our heritage. Many outfits we wear as Africans are the cultural inheritances of other people, but we demonize Yoruba power regalias? The introduction of religion seems to have washed down our culture in terms of fashion. Why do you think that a pastor is more proper wearing a suit than wearing a native Yoruba outfit? Colonialism. Look at the Olu of Warri, His majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, he is a proud Christian,he goes around promoting the Itsekiri culture in his acts &looks without shoes. There’s nothing diabolical about depicting our cultural heritage through fashion. If U dnt understand it, dnt go ard wagging ur tongue in derision. Still the KOF of #Rholagos 👑 I Know how to get your Attention 🥰🤛"
