Breaking: ASUU extends strike againThe Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended its strike for the second time.

The decision was made following an National Executive Council meeting at the headquarters of the union located at the University in Abuja on Monday 29 August.

The ASUU strike started in February, 2022 and was originally scheduled to last for four weeks. On March 14 just one month later, ASUU extended its ongoing strike by two months in order to give the government additional time to meet all the demands of its members.

The strike is now entering its 196th day.

The union is in a strike because of the inability of the Federal Government to implement previous agreements between the parties.

The lecturers' demands are centered around funding for the revival of public universities, the payment of tuition allowances University Transparency Control Solution and promotion arrears among others.
