An Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin, has sentenced a Corps members to two years of imprisonment for fraud related to the internet.
Adetuberu Christopher Adetoyese, who is employed as a police officer in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, was charged before the court on Thursday, August 11 by the Llorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
It was found that he had been guilty of two charges brought against him in the Anti-graft Agency.
The judge who presided, Ibrahim Yusuf, while sentenced Adetuberu ordered the confiscation of a three-bedroom apartment that was purchased with the proceeds of illegal criminal activities.
Other items confiscated include an Lexus vehicle, various kinds of phones, as well as laptop computers that are all tools of the crime, as well as of N921, 535.49 in his bank account with the Federal Government.
However, he offered the convict the option of paying a the fine of N200,000, saying that the conviction could act as a deterrent for other people.
Adetuberu, an indigenous of Ilesha, Ilesha West Local Government Area of Osun was arrested in the Ogele in the area in Eyenkorin, Ilorin.
The convict's course of his investigation found that he had a connection to "Yahoo Yahoo Business" in 2016 and , among other things constructed an house using the profits from the illegal actions.
