It was reported by Italian Sport journalist, Fabrizio Romano that the full back is set to complete his move to Stamford Bridge.
The football transfer guru had reported that Chelsea have agreed a fee in the region of £50m with Brighton for the signature of Cucurella earlier in the day.
This transfer update left many Chelsea fans in "seven heaven" given the club's unfortunate transfer window.
Barcelona who also are interested in signing Marc Cucurella have already beaten Chelsea to signing of Raphinha from Leeds and Jules Koundé from Sevilla.
Meanwhile, Brighton release a statement stating that the deal isn't done:
"Contrary to inaccurate reports from numerous media outlets this evening, no agreement has been reached with any club to sell Marc Cucurella," the Statement reads.
Apparently, a follower of Fabrizio Romano has called out the journalist calling him a "liar."
He tweeted.... "Fabrizio LIED to us 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Cucurella sio done deal aseee"
But the Transfer guru seems confident that the deal of Cucurella to Stamford Bridge will be completed in a matter of days.
Fabrizio replied: "we will see who lied"
