Brighton midfielder, Enock Mwepu forced to early retirement at age 24 due to hereditary heart problem

Brighton Hove Albion midfielder Enock Mwepu has been forced to retire from football.

This comes after The 24-year-old has been diagnosed of a hereditary heart condition.

Reportminds Blog understands that Enock Mwepu decision to announce his retirement comes from medical advice due to risk of suffering a potentially fatal cardiac event, if he were to continue playing competitive football.


Enock fell ill while he was involved in international duty with Zambia. The midfielder returned to Brighton to undergo further cardiac tests.

Brighton confirmed with the statement, "Enock Mwepu has been forced to end his playing career following the diagnosis of a hereditary heart condition."
Mwepu featured in all six of Brighton's Premier League games this season.




The Zambian international joined the Seagulls from Red Bull Salzburg in July 2021.

The midfielder also scored six goals in 23 appearances for the Zambian national team.
