
Arsenal hopes of signing Douglas Luiz came to an end after the Brazilian signed a new contract with Aston Villa.
The 24-year-old midfielder has decided to stay at Villa Park for another four years following his new deal.
If you recall that Mikel Arteta was interested in signing Douglas Luiz during the start of the new season.
Arsenal had three Deadline Day bids rejected by Aston Villa after the Brazilian was identified as possible replacement for injured Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny.
It's understood that Arsenal refused to improve their £25million final offer from Steven Gerrard.
Luiz have signed a contract extension that will see him remain as a Villa player until 2026.

Popular transfer guru Fabrizio Romano shared the tweet with the caption which reads: "Official. Douglas Luiz has signed a new long-term contract with Aston Villa."

This means that Arsenal will turn their attention to Leicester star Youri Tielemans who has refused to sign a new contract at the King Power Stadium.
The Belgium international will become a free agent next summer if he doesn't sort his future with the Foxes.
