Former Barcelona striker Luis Suarez scored twice to help his boyhood club, Nacional claim the Uruguayan Championship.



The 35-year-old striker claimed his 20th major honour in his illustrious career haven played for several clubs including Liverpool, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.


Luis Suarez scored twice to help Nacional thumped Liverpool 4-1 in the Uruguayan Championship.

The former Atletico Madrid striker scored the opening goal in the 50th minutes before Vecino equalised from thr penalty spot.

Liverpool were reduced to ten men after Pereira was shown a straight red card in the 81 minutes. 

Suarez put his team back in front during the first extra time after 90 minutes played. 

Then, Gigliotti scored a brace late in the game as Nacional lifted their 49th Uruguayan Championship. 
Luis Suarez left Atletico Madrid in July, after leaving the Wanda Metropolitano stadium as a free agent. 

The former Liverpool star decided to return to his boyhood Club Nacional for the 2022 season. 

Suarez has scored six times in 13 appearances for the Uruguayan side.
