Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has given explanation following his team's defeat on Saturday.
The Citizens suffered 2-1 defeat against their home Premier League clash with Brentford.
Prior to the game, Pep Guardiola revealed during his press conference on Friday that he would not rest any player for the game despite upcoming World Cup 2022.
The Spanish boss warned national teams coaches calling for several players to be rested ahead of the FIFA competition coming up in November 20 2022.
Despite City's star players on parade at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon, it was Brentford that took the lead.
Speaking to media after the defeat, Guardiola admitted that Brentford were a better team.
“The better team won. We had a lot of problems, we could not high-press because of the balls [from] keeper to the striker,” Guardiola said at his post-match press conference.
“In the first 15-16 minutes, they had two clear chances and then we’ve the momentum, we attack a little bit quicker – right cross, left cross, and we make a little bit more of a process."
Ivan Toney put the Bees in the front after he pounced on a cross at the far post to stab it home.
But Phil Foden made it 1-1 just before the half time from a stunning strike heading into the break.
Toney who wasn't included in England's World Cup squad scored the second in 90th-minute to snatch the victory.
City's coach blamed his team for not being able to deal with Brentford long balls in the second half of the game.
“In the second half, we started well and then there was a break of 10 minutes. Every time break, long balls, we couldn’t win it, "Guardiola continued.
“Tactically, we had problems to control. We struggled to control the long balls from Raya to Tony. You have to be brilliant in the small spaces and we weren’t.”
