Carabao Cup: Manchester City 2-0 Chelsea. Alvarez and Mahrez goals sealed victory as they book round of 16 spot

Manchester City defeated Chelsea to advance into the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup.

Pep Guardiola side hosted the Blues at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night in the third round of the cup competition.

Second-half goals from Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez were enough for Pep Guardiola's side to secure victory. 

City looked dominant in most part of the game despite making changes in the team's selection.

Riyad Mahrez put City in the lead after 53 minutes of the game. The Algerian has been playing Cup games so far this term.

Julian Alvarez made it 2-0 five minutes later as the Argentine international finished in style.
