Qatar suffered defeat in their opening game of the FIFA World Cup 2022 over the weekend.
The FIFA World Cup competition kick off in Qatar on Sunday, November 20th 2022.
The host nation, Qatar opened the occasion with their fixture against Ecuador in the group A encounter.
It was the only match of the day as the Qatar side were condemned to 2-0 defeat to Ecuador at the Al Bayt stadium.
Two goals from their inspirational captain Enner Valencia handed Ecuador their three points on the evening.
Valencia scored his team's first goal from the penalty spot on the 16th minute after his teammate was brought down by host goalkeeper.
The 33-year-old experience player calmy slotted the ball as he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Ecuador got thrit second goal in the 30th minute as Enner Valencia doubled Ecuador's lead.
The Fenerbahçe striker scored his brace with a brilliant header after Preciado delivered a beautiful cross to him.
The performance earned him the man of the match award after 90th-minute of the game.
The 33 year old striker was presented with the award following his five star performance.
Ecuador will hope for another positive outcome when they face Netherlands on Friday, 25th of November while Qatar face Senegal.
