England coach Gareth Southgate has revealed the reason he selected Harry Maguire among his World Cup squad.
The Manchester United defender has been criticized for his performances for the Red Devils. But Southgate has continued to show his support for the ex Leicester City star.
England will kick off their campaign at the world Cup group B clash with Iran on November 21st before they face USA four days later and they play Wales on 29th November in their final game of the group.
Fans have raised reaction the reason AC Milan star Fikayo Tomori wasn't included in the squad.
The former Chelsea defender was impressive for Rossoneri which saw them win the Serie A title last term.
While addressing the reason for Maguire selection, he said that the Manchester United star hasn't seen competition from Tomori and other young defenders.
Gareth Southgate said that Harry Maguire is one of his best defenders.
The England coach called up Coady of Everton, John Stones of Manchester City, Ben White of Arsenal and Eric Dier of Tottenham for his options at Center back.
Fikayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham, Jarrod Bowen, Joe Gomez, James Ward-Prowse have been left out of England squad for the World Cup.
Southgate added: “Yes, I’m sure Harry Maguire is one of our best centre backs”.
