The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino has come out to ban the sale of alcohol 48 hours before the World Cup kick off in Qatar.
There have been several eyebrow raised at thr latest decision from the world governing body for football.
According to Infantino, beer and other alcohol substances will not be available for sale in the stadium and around the stadium during the game.
The FIFA 2022 World Cup is expected to kick off on Sunday November 20th and the host nation Qatar will face Ecuador.
But World Cup chiefs on Friday banned beer sales around stadiums in Qatar in a stunning U-turn, just 48 hours before Sunday’s kickoff
FIFA President Gianni Infantino said Saturday that World Cup fans can survive for three hours a day without beer after sales were banned around stadiums.
“I think personally if for three hours a day you cannot drink a beer, you will survive,” he told his opening press conference in Doha. “The same applies in France, Spain, Scotland.”
