The 2022 World Cup kick off in Qatar this evening at 4pm GMT. The host nation Qatar suffered 2-0 defeat in their opening game against Ecuador. 

The man of the match happens to be the captain of Ecuador, Enner Valencia who scored twice in the first half. 



However, Valencia would have scored a hat-trick but one of his goal was ruled out for offside by the VAR. 

Enner Valencia's first goal was ruled out by the VAR but the 33 years old striker went ahead to score again but this time it was from the penalty spot. 

Ecuador took the lead from penalty spot after Enner Valencia calmy slotted the ball at the back of the net. 


The 33-year-old who plays for Turkish club Fenerbahçe showed his composure and he could be an important player for the team going forward in the competition. 

Enner Valencia made it 2-0 with a header from close range just before the half time to extend his team advantage. 

The 33-year-old striker was Ecuador's focal point in attack, showed he is a clinical goal scorer after scoring a sublime first-half header.

Enner Valencia is one of the experienced player in the Ecuador side as he has participated in the World Cup in the past.
