André Onana, goalkeeper of the Cameroon national team, has revealed the reason left the Cameroon World Cup squad in Qatar.
The Inter Milan shot stopper decided to withdraw from the competition for being unhappy with the tactical changes of his coach.
Cameroon defeated South Korea 3-2 to claim their victory in the ongoing World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
But Onana wasn't part of the squad after failing to reach an agreement with his national team, which made his leave the Camp.
Now it has been the player himself who, through an official statement, wanted to express himself. In his letter, he assures that "I want to express my affection for my country and my national team" and adds that "I have always behaved in the best way to help the team to achieve all the successes".
"I have put all my energy and efforts into finding solutions" to the problem with Cameroon, although it has not been possible.
"As always, I respect and support the decisions taken by those in high positions who seek the success of our national team and our country," he continues. "the values that I promote as a person and as a player are the same ones that identify me and that my family has instilled in me since I was a child. Representing Cameroon has always been a privilege. The nation before and forever," concluded the goalkeeper.
" If yesterday, Monday, the problems surrounding the Cameroonian national team came to light with the announcement that Inter Milan goalkeeper André Onana had been sidelined for "disciplinary reasons", this Tuesday we woke up to an official statement from the Fecafoot, the Cameroonian soccer federation."
