A 70-year-old man arrested with his four wives for allegedly raping 13-year-old girl in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Anti-Thuggery Committee has taken into custody a 70-year-old man with four wives and 20 children for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.

On December 2, 2022, the chairman of the committee, Bello Bakyasuwa, presented the man alongside other suspects and stated that the suspect had admitted to having raped the adolescent girl twice.

According to Bakyasuwa, the suspect was detained by committee members on Thursday while attempting to rape the girl for the third time in the Yan mangwarori area of Gusau Town.

"A report from his family members who were unhappy with what he had been doing with little girls in his matrimonial home led to the rapist's arrest.As he was about to carry out his evil deed, he was followed and taken into custody.The chairman stated

For various reasons, Bakyasuwa stated that he would not reveal the identities of the rapist and the victim.

However, he clarified that the names would be made public as soon as the alleged rapist was brought before a judge.

Bakyasuwa stated, "For some reasons, I will not disclose the suspect's and the girl's names. However, the man will be arraigned before the court by the appropriate authority where his name and that of the girl must be mentioned."

The chairman said he would turn the suspect over to the right people to take the necessary steps.

The 70-year-old man stated in an interview with journalists that he has twenty children and four wives.

He admitted that he has had two canal encounters with the teen girl in his home at different times.

He claimed that for the first time, he convinced the girl with N100 and for the second time, he gave her N200.

His wives discovered him and informed the anti-theft committee, which resulted in his arrest.

However, he emphasized that his manhood was no longer functioning, and he denied that he defiled the girl.

He claimed, "I used my fingers to touch her womanhood and get satisfied, but I never used my manhood because there was no erection."

The committee has also made an arrest on a suspect who was known for breaking into shops and stealing motorcycles.

In Gusau town at midnight, two females and a tricycle driver who were in possession of narcotics were  also arrested.
