Arsenal's Cedric Soares loan move to Fulham could be blocked by his wage demands

Arsenal looked poised to offload Cedric Soares on loan in January to their fellow London rival, Fulham.

The Portugese international seems to have fallen behind the team's selection in his favorite right back position.

Fulham boss, Marco Silva looked poised to recruit the defender in the January but his weekly wages will be a decider for the deal to pull through.

The wages CEDRIC SOARES receives from Arsenal may impede his loan move to Fulham next month.

With the right-back's representatives, the Cottagers have discussed moving to West London next month.

If his demands for pay are met, Soares could be moving across the capital. However, the former Southampton man's weekly wage of around £75,000 is proving to be a problem.

Following a strong start to the season that saw the promoted team finish ninth prior to the start of play on Boxing Day, Silva is eager to expand his team in the upcoming month.

There has been no official communication with the Gunners thus far, and Mikel Arteta has yet to decide whether or not he would authorize Cedric's departure.

Takehiro Tomiyasu, a Japan international, has struggled this season with a number of nagging injuries, so Ben White has frequently played right back.

If a loan deal for the 31-year-old goes through, Arsenal are thought to want an obligation to buy included.

Both Villarreal in Spain and Bayer Leverkusen in Germany are keeping a close eye on the Portugal international in the event that Fulham decides not to make a move for him.

Cedric made the switch to Arsenal on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Southampton in 2020, when he first joined the club on loan.

This season, the former Sporting Lisbon full-back has only made two substitute appearances in the Premier League, each with a total of 28 minutes played.

Arteta may want to keep Cedric around as cover because he can play left back as well.

During his first season in charge of Arsenal, Oleksandr Zinchenko struggled with calf injuries. The manager does not want to be caught short as he competes for the title.
