Blood Origin Holds An Embarrassing Record For Netflix

Rotten Tomatoes says that both critics and fans have dismissed "The Witcher: Blood Origin" as being significantly inferior to its predecessor. As of the time of this writing, the prequel has received a score of 33% from critics, while fans have given the series only 10%.

Variety's Joshua Alston may have put it best. According to Alston, "Blood Origin" is like a sloppy downloadable expansion pack for "The Witcher" video games, which are so popular. Only completists are eligible to apply. As if these takedowns weren't bad enough, the show has the lowest fan ratings of any Netflix series ever (according to Forbes), which is a terrible record.

Even though "The Witcher" seems to be the most popular fantasy series on Netflix, it doesn't seem like that's enough to make fans ignore a prequel series that doesn't follow the exact path taken in the books by Andrzej Sapkowski.

Moreover, "The Witcher: It appears that "Blood Origin" has many of the same issues as "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," as both series suffer greatly from being more or less muddled together by additional material from their respective authors. In any case, it doesn't seem likely that "Blood Origin" will be renewed for a second season given the way fans and critics have reacted.
