Enock Mwepu, a former midfielder for Premier League club Brighton, has been named the new coach of their Under-9 academy.
The 24-year-old Zambian was forced to retire in October after learning that he had a hereditary heart condition.
He will continue playing football, though, and assist Brighton in producing the sport's future stars.
If you remember that Mwepu joined Brighton in July 2021 for about £18 million from Red Bull Salzburg, making 27 appearances for the club.
Reportminds Blog understands that the midfielder fell ill on a plane headed to meet up with his nation during an international break, and after spending some time in a Mali hospital, he was then sent back to Brighton where additional tests revealed his heart condition.
Taking to his social media platform, he shared his excitement, Mwepu tweeted: 'God's plan and timing is always perfect. Ending the year with joy. I belong to Christ Jesus.'
