Former Real Madrid and Inter Milan star Ivan Zamorano has advised Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez that he is superior to Erling Haaland "on the wings" and "participates" more than Kylian Mbappe as a number nine.
Alvarez starred for Argentina in the World Cup. On their way to glory, the City striker scored four times for Lionel Scaloni's team, but he was outscored by Lionel Messi (seven) and Mbappe (eight), who won the Golden Boot.
Alvarez took advantage of the chance to shine on the biggest stage in the world after spending the majority of the season playing second fiddle to Haaland. As he determines whether he can capitalize on the 22-year-old's good form and attempt to find a way for the pair to both start, Pep Guardiola will undoubtedly have a selection problem for the remainder of the Premier League season.
While Zamorano waxed lyrical about the City ace, even one of Chile's most well-known strikers could not help but heap praise on Alvarez, despite the fact that South American nations may have some of the fiercest rivalries in all of football.
He told Argentinian outlet Ole (via Sportskeeda ): "He (Alvarez) is a boy who does everything well. He is doing very well on the wings, he is good on the side, he is the first defender, he is united with his teammates, he plays very well with his head, he shoots well from the right and the left, he has the physical strength at short and long distance - we saw that with his goal against Croatia."
"Haaland is not good on the wings, Mbappé we saw that as number nine he does not participate much. And all that, Julian does it."
