Argentina have been crowned FIFA World Cup champions after their hard fought win over France in the final.

The Albiceleste took the game to penalties after Kylian Mbappe netted hat-trick, with his PSG team mate Messi scoring twice.

After a thrilling 120-minute 3-3 stalemate, Lionel Messi led Argentina to a surprise World Cup triumph, defeating the reigning champions France 4-2 on penalties.

With little over ten minutes left, Argentina had a 2-0 lead that was well-deserved when France shocked the South Americans with two goals from Kylian Mbappe in quick succession.

Both teams scored again during extra time, and the Albiceleste won the penalty shootout 4-2 on spot kicks.
