In their final Premier League match of 2022, Liverpool came from behind to defeat Leicester on the strength of two own goals from Wout Faes.

Four minutes into the game, the Foxes took the lead after the hosts' sloppy defending allowed Kieran Dewsbury-Hall to break through on goal and beat Alisson.

In the subsequent open and entertaining first half, both teams had scoring chances, but Liverpool's equalizer occurred in incredibly fortunate circumstances.

Trent Alexander-cross Arnold's was attempted to be deflected behind by Faes with seven minutes remaining in the half, but instead the ball looped over goalkeeper Danny Ward and into the net.

The situation for Faes and Leicester took a turn for the worse just before halftime when the defender once more managed to put the ball in his own net, this time after Darwin Nunez's chipped shot had rebounded off the post.

In the second half, Liverpool really should have put the game out of reach for Leicester, but Mohamed Salah missed a good opportunity with only Ward to beat, and Nunez, not for the first time in recent games, failed to take advantage of a few good opportunities.

Leicester's loss, however, keeps them in 13th place and four points above the relegation zone.
