Arsenal are preparing for their Premier League clash with West Ham in Boxing Day.
The Gunners will return to action for their match day 17 clash with the Hammers on December 26th, when the Premier League resumes after World Cup break.
Mikel Arteta have a lot to think of when it comes to his attacking options following the injury to Gabriel Jesus.
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has made the players in his team who will fill in for the injured Gabriel Jesus.
If you recall that the 25-year-old was injured during his participation for Brazil against Cameroon at the just concluded 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The January transfer window is seen as an excellent opportunity for Arsenal to add players to their roster.
However, prior to their Boxing Day matchup with West Ham United, Arteta informed his press conference that Gabriel Martinelli could be promoted to the center forward position.
He also suggested that Smith Rowe, a midfielder, might be a good fit for Jesus' position.
“It’s impossible to replace him [Jesus]. But we have other players, other alternatives.
“We have other alternatives in that we can play Martinelli up front as well."
Jesus will be out for three months as he continues to recuperate after his successful surgery.
On the other hand, Emile Smith-Rowe has been out of action as he continues to struggle with groin and fitness concerns.
Although the English international has underwent surgery but he's yet to join the team in training.
Arteta added: “We are currently a little bit short in terms of upfront positions but getting Emile [Smith Rowe] back is going to be a big one.”
