The previous Santos FC star had been at the Albert Einstein Israelite Emergency clinic in Sao Paulo since 29 November.
A clinical report not long before Christmas showed that he wanted care for cardiovascular and renal brokenness, having been engaging colon disease since September 2021.
Pele, who was born Edson Arantes do Nascimento, started playing football at the age of 15 for Santos and the Brazilian national team a year later. At the age of 17, he made his international debut in the 1958 World Cup.
He was the only player to win three World Cups during his international career—in 1958, 1962, and 1970.
Because he played a crucial role in arguably the sport's greatest ever international team, his contribution to Brazil's third victory in Mexico in 1970 has become part of football legend.
Santos claims that he scored closer to 1,000 goals during his glittering 20-year career, which spanned 831 games from 1957 to 1977. He scored 757 goals in those games.
