Suspect arrested in killing of American rapper Takeoff

The rapper Takeoff was shot and killed, and a 33-year-old man was arrested on a murder charge.

According to Houston Police Chief Troy Finner, Patrick Xavier Clark was taken into custody peacefully on Thursday night, December 1.

A day after another man was charged with the Nov. 1 shooting, which authorities said was the result of a dispute over a dice game and left two others injured, Clark was taken into custody.

When Takeoff was shot at on Nov. 1 outside of a Houston bowling alley, he was an "innocent bystander."

Until a bond hearing, Clark is being held in jail on Friday, December 2.

Sgt. of PoliceDuring a news conference on Friday, Michael Burrow stated that the argument stemmed from a "lucrative" dice game, but that Takeoff was not involved and was "an innocent bystander."

Burrow stated that no one on the scene contacted the police.

According to Burrow, the authorities have also used ballistics, video, and audio recordings to piece together the events and have since located some of those individuals.

He stated that witnesses are still being sought by investigators.

He stated, "We will be looking to find you."If you come find us, it will be simpler."

Cameron Joshua's arrest was made public by authorities on Wednesday, November 30 in connection with the shooting.At the time Takeoff was shot, Joshua was charged with illegally possessing a firearm; however, according to prosecutors, the 22-year-old is not believed to have fired the weapon.

Joshua's attorney, Christopher Downey, told reporters that he hasn't seen anything that suggests Joshua was involved in Takeoff's death.

Burrow stated that Clark's gunfire may have been the cause of the rap per's death.
