The Gunners are also keeping an eye on Barcelona forward Raphinha, though the Brazilian is unlikely to leave in January.
After missing out on Mykhailo Mudryk, Arsenal has made first contact with Bayer Leverkusen over French winger Moussa Diaby.
Leverkusen, which gave interested teams a price tag of €100 million (£88.5 million) in the summer, does not want to offload the 23-year-old mid-season.
In Germany, Diaby's contract is in effect until the summer of 2025. He joined Leverkusen in 2019 after leaving his hometown team Paris Saint-Germain.
The winger has eight national team appearances for France, however he was not selected for the World Cup team in 2014.
Although it seems probable that Raphinha would remain put during this transfer window, Arsenal is still keeping an eye on his status at Barcelona.
