Toni Tapalovic, a close buddy of Manuel Neuer's, was reportedly fired as goalkeeping coach at Bayern Munich because he was leaking conversations among the coaching staff to the players.
Despite being fired on Monday due to "differences in the way we work together," Tapolovic's relationship with manager Julian Nagelsmann was the root of the problems that led to his resignation, according to a German newspaper.
The 42-year-old, who served as Neuer's best man at his wedding, has been with Bayern since 2011 and is widely credited with developing the goalkeeper into one of the best in the world. However, because of their close friendship, there have allegedly been "leaks" in the locker room.
According to Bild, Nagelsmann became irritated with Tapalovic as early as last season after learning that the coach was relaying staff member talks to Neuer and subsequently to the other players.
After learning of Tapalovic's departure, Neuer wrote a heartfelt ode to him.
After fracturing his metatarsal against Real Madrid in the Champions League, Neuer wed Nina Weiss in 2017, limping down the aisle on crutches, with Tapalovic assisting him in getting ready.
