Casemiro and Fred played important roles in the 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Saturday, but they might not fight this weekend at the Emirates.
Erik ten Hag will want Casemiro and Fred to behave well in Manchester United's match on Wednesday against Crystal Palace or risk missing Sunday's crucial match against Arsenal. The Gunners would suffer a major blow without Casemiro.
Casemiro has been one of the club's best players ever since he joined in the summer, playing a significant role in their success this season. In addition to his well-known defensive work, the pivot has contributed with two goals and four assists.
Ten Hag, on the other hand, has mostly used Fred as a substitute, starting only nine of his 23 games this season, five of which were in the Premier League. However, he made his league debut for the first time since October on Saturday against Manchester City.
For the third time this season, he played all 90 minutes, just like Casemiro did, as United won famously. Despite the fact that this midweek match against Palace will be difficult, they both left the field with a smile on their faces.
Because they each received a booking on Derby Day, the Brazilian duo has received four Premier League yellow cards thus far this season. A player is suspended for one match under the competition's rules if they receive five yellow cards in their team's 19 league games.
United has played 18 games, so they won't play at the Emirates this weekend if Casemiro or Fred enter the referee's notebook at Selhurst Park. If Ten Hag defeats Arsenal and Palace, the gap between them and United can be reduced to just three points. United is currently nine points behind Arsenal in the table.
