Chelsea is paying a new signing Mykhailo Mudryk more so than Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The Ukrainian winger's transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk was hijacked by Premier League rivals Chelsea, and his arrival was announced on Friday.
Chelsea completed seven years deal for Mykhailo Mudryk who joined for fee in region of £88 million.
The 21-year-old was unveiled to the fans infront of their West London fans at the Stamford Bridge on Sunday against Crystal Palace.
However, according to The Athletic, Mudryk's salary of £97,000 per week, barely £10,000 more than Arsenal's offer and less than Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek, was not a major influence in the decision to sign with Chelsea.
Loftus-Cheek, a central midfielder who signed a new five-year deal for £150,000 per week in July 2019, hasn't played since November 6.
While winger Hudson-Odoi signed a five-year contract worth £120,000 per week two months later, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter's predecessor, had little use for him and sent him on a season-long loan to Bayer Leverkusen.
It is stated that the decision to pay Mudryk a salary that is only marginally higher than Arsenal's is part of a long-term plan by new owner Todd Boehly to reduce the club's wage bill.
