Chelsea face backlash from fans after unveiling Joao Felix in the WRONG language

After welcoming Joao Felix, a new signing for Chelsea, in the wrong language on Wednesday, the Blues did not exactly give him the warm reception he had hoped for at his new club.

Despite the fact that the Atletico Madrid loanee is a 28-time Portugal international, Chelsea's Twitter account welcomed him to Stamford Bridge in Spanish after he signed a contract to stay with the club until the end of the season.

On Wednesday, Felix expressed his happiness at joining Graham Potter's team and immediately began training with his new club. Supporters will hope the 23-year-old can end their pattern of big-name flops at the front.

After the club agreed to pay Felix a £9 million loan fee and the entirety of his £5.3 million wages for the duration of his stay in west London, Felix became a Chelsea player on January 11.

However, the Chelsea account tweeted in their announcement of his arrival:

'#HolaFelix,' with 'Hola' being the Spanish word for hello, rather than the Portuguese 'Ola'

Even though the club quickly shared a few new pictures of their latest addition, the usual hashtag was missing.

And fans were quick to pick up on the error, with one writing: ‘#HolaFelix’ lads you might wanna double check his nationality.'

Another added: 'F*** sake, he's not even Spanish... Why is the hashtag #HolaFélix trending? Only just realised.'

And a third said: 'Don't get upset with #HolaFelix . It's normal that Irish teams don't know the difference.'
