Cristiano Ronaldo makes Al Nassr debut in victory over Ettifaq

On Sunday night, Cristiano Ronaldo's competitive debut with Al Nassr resulted in win.

In the Saudi Pro League match, Al Nassr defeated Ettifaq 1-0 without the help of the Portugal international.

The 37-year-old signed a reported £175 million per year contract with Al Nassr last month through the year 2025.

Following a high-profile interview in which the former Juventus and Real Madrid attacker was disrespectful of the team and an official, his previous contract with Manchester United was canceled.

Ronaldo played the entire 90 minutes for the league leaders against Ettifaq on Sunday but failed to make a significant impact.

On Thursday, Ronaldo scored twice for a Riyadh All Stars team in a 5-4 loss to Lionel Messi's Paris St. Germain in an exhibition match in the Saudi capital.

The game's lone goal was scored on the half-hour by former Benfica striker Anderson Talisca of Brazil.

With 14 games played, one fewer than their closest rivals, the victory keeps Al Nassr a point ahead of Al Hilal at the top of the standings.
